Acupuncture

Acupuncture is part of an integrated system of primary health care, known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that has an uninterrupted history of development dating back several thousand years in China and other parts of East Asia.

This long-established medical practice involves the insertion of needles to stimulate the healing process. It can assist with pain or inflammation and to relieve the specific symptoms of many diseases. It is highly effective in treating an array of conditions ranging from muscular skeletal problems to emotional and/or stress related symptoms for any age group. Its success in pain management has been well researched and it was for this reason acupuncture was initially introduced to the West.

Acupuncture can produce dramatic results and does more than take away symptoms (the way paracetamol removes a headache). It can assist in correcting the true cause of the problem, encouraging the body's innate wisdom to return it to its natural state of balance.

The human body circulates a biological energy called Qi.  This flows throughout the countless pathways of the body, linking and integrating the organs and tissues to ensure they function to perfection. Undergoing physical or emotional stress, environmental factors or a prolonged unhealthy life-style, disrupts the balance and strength of Qi, resulting in pain and illness.  Acupuncture  stimulates the affected areas in order to bring equilibrium back to the body, restoring the balance of Qi.

Acupuncture is known to treat a wide range of disorders which have been recognized by the World Health Organization.
